Rick Kemp - bass guitar

Tony Gosling, Henry Temple, Brian Sleight and Rob Coggle, alongside Johnny Patterson, were all in the original line-up of the Aces, who were a skiffle group. Johnny Hawk joined the group in 1959 as vocalist and the group became Johnny Hawk and the Aces for a couple of years. Sometime after Johnny Hawk left in the early 1960s, the group changed their name to the Four Aces until reverting back to the Aces in 1963 when they were signed by Parlophone. They released two singles in 1963 and recorded one more that was not released.

Sometime before being signed Rick Kemp was in drafted into the group for a short while. Rick Kemp later played for Steeleye Span.

The songs 'The Last One' and 'But Say It Isn't So' were written by guitarist Brian Gatie.

  3. My research has led me to believe that Johnny Patterson also fronted a short lived band called 'The Small Four' who released one 45 on Pye in the 60s. Does anyone know anything about them or the rest of the line up? It appears that some one called John Small was also part of the line up.

  4. They used to play at the Beverley Road Baths in Winter, when it closed for swimming and the pool was covered to make a dance floor. I remember them so well.
