Andy's Clappers

Town of Origin: Birmingham
Year Formed:

Members

Dave Kaye - bass guitar
Jan Jeffries - organ, vocal
Andy Preston - guitar
Roy Saywood - lead guitar, vocal
Bob Neale - drums

Although Dave Kaye and Andy Preston were from Middlesex, the group were formed in Birmingham. They secured a residency at the Locarno for about two years and also played at US Air Force bases in Germany. Andy's Clappers were nationally famous for buying a London Transport double decker bus to travel to gigs in, something that was very unusual in the mid 1960s. The group stayed together for the best part of 10 years before breaking up. Some of the members of the group formed Fredz Peeple.
